Some people seem to see supporting Trump as a giant FU to a system they don't like and that they think doesn't appreciate them.
The Trump=Jesus equation makes no sense, of course, except that certain people see Trump as "saving" them and indeed the country. Jesus was the way, the truth, and the light; Trump is the lie, the dark, and no way! but certain people still seem to love the guy as an anti-Jesus of sorts. Maybe Jesus' bad-boy mango brother?
Yes, the crazy has no limit, with the DNC deciding the best way to defend democracy is to anoint an unpopular VP who's never won a single delegate in a presidential election. Thanks, Democrats! Exactly what we need to defeat a phony like Trump is a different kind of phony like Harris.
Yes, I definitely think the FU factor is in effect for a sizable contingent of his supporters.
The Jesus association is just inexplicable to me, because as I understand it, supposedly, the "devout" ones are the ones most in love with that meme. Then again, every religious fanatic I've known has been an unashamed hypocrite, so....
As for Harris, I didn't vote for her (ballot has been turned in), and as the controversy over Stein in Ohio hasn't been resolved (decision due today, I belatedly found out), I wrote in Bernie Sanders. But I don’t have an issue with Harris as the Dem choice, in terms of procedure. In the primaries, people voted for a slate that included Harris along with Biden. I think that makes her substitution legit, whether or not it will prove to be a wise choice.
IMO, the Dems went with a sure thing, as far as a candidate who'd toe the line. She was an immediate, convenient solution. I agree with some of her positions---particularly on choice---and I support her stance on housing and help for small business. However, the devil is in the details, and warm fuzzies ain't gonna cut it as far as actually getting things done. I abhor her renunciation of a fracking ban and a public healthcare option; in those respects, her "changing her mind" is blatant political calculus, and yes, does betray her phoniness. Of course, Gaza is the red line for me.
But as we've discussed over and over, the Dems are never going to run anyone who's a threat to the status quo, so a phony will inevitably be their standard bearer.
A much shorter ride, to Rt. 306 in Mentor, finds the same madness displayed horrifically for all to see. Even to the point of having a (?) statue/3D likeness/hideous figurine with spotlights. I cannot fathom what kind of nightmare it must be to have THAT as a neighbor. It's going to take a long time, and a lot of work, to rid our nation of this scourge. Welcome back to the relative sanity of the Near West Side, Denise. I wish it were so in the trump-licking confines of Lake and Geauga Counties. Sigh.
Thanks for the warning about the travesty on 306, Daniel. I'll make sure to avoid it. I don't know what I'd do about that as a neighbor. Maybe put up a 10-foot frame and hang an opaque tarp all along the property line, down to the street?
Yes, I'm grateful to live in a blue bubble. My deepest sympathies about the atmosphere where you are. It's depressing, without a doubt. And I'll bet, after Mango Man loses next month, the "2028" signs will go up.

The crazy--it hurts!
